How To Join
Playing Standard
The orchestra is open to players of a reasonable standard, regardless of age or previous orchestral experience. If you are enthusiastic about music, you will find that a very warm welcome awaits you. Maybe you have had a break from playing for a few years due to family or work commitments? Come along and try out a few rehearsals and regain your confidence as a musician.
There is no formal audition, although you will ultimately need to be able to cope with the music we practise and perform. As a general indication, this means that you should ideally be at least Grade VI standard or equivalent, although this is not a strict minimum requirement.
Vacancies
We welcome enquiries from all instrumentalists, with immediate vacancies for string players and waiting lists for most wind positions. Occasionally, we need wind players to stand in for regular players who are absent, so please get in touch anyway and ask to be added to the waiting list.
